I could not wait to opt out of the annual trip to Devon or Cornwall, and instead party with friends, and start travelling abroad. A generation on, how things have changed. A number of reasons: they have been used to travelling abroad from a young age; my son has recently graduated but has a student loan to pay off and is finding his way into the working world; generational differences are not so great – my parents lived through the war and had a very different experience of life.
